Second Holiday, Days 7 & 8

On the 7th day we went down to Beningbrough Hall (along way down) and got caught in quite bad rain. And thunder. And lightning.

They weren't the only thing we got caught in. We sat in the conservatory hoping the weather would calm down a bit so we could get back to the car without getting soaked but since it was near closing time we got locked in the conservatory and I had to bang on the glass so someone would let us out.

When we got back to Whitby the weather seemed to have worsened and we had planned on looking for an indian restaurant but we were soaked so instead I got my dad to take me up to the abbey so I could take some pictures.

---

Then it was Saturday and time to go home and for me to misread the map and get us 'lost'.

About 1 hour later than expected we got to Bolsover Castle and I had one of the best slices of millionaires shortbread I have had in ages.

After a quick walk round we eventually got home and back to my cat who seemed to of missed me quite a lot (bless).

Weekend

This weekend has been very laid back. Yesterday I went out with my mom and grandad to an old house with chickens. We ended up playing a game of croquet (I may have cheated) which my grandad still managed to win. There wasn't much to photograph here but there were some nice flowers.
I spent today writing up proper blogposts for next week and setting fire to things while eating thorntons chocolate (going out of date but who cares). When I say setting fire to things I mean in a chimnea and an oil burner before you start worrying. The oil burner was purchased at a Christmas fayre for summer nights when it gets chilly but today we thought we would give it a test drive. It was very effective although it's quite hard to see the flames so you aren't sure if you are about to be burnt but it's looks good and warms you up.
I have also finished Submarine! I am writing an update to the previous post but I have another book review to upload first so stay tuned  :)

Coughton Court

Yesterday I visited Coughton Court and the one area which really caught my attention and heart was the walled garden. It's a haven of scents, colour and wildlife. Accompanied by the summery drone of bees I explored the garden in detail. Every colour, every flower elevated my mood and I decided to take some photos of this absolute delight. Each photo I took was filled with colour and different flowers and this really is a heavenly place, unless, of course, you suffer with hay fever or have a dislike to bees. I really recommend you visit this area on a warm summers day, especially because of the delectable ice creams you can buy from the shop (when I was eating mine I was accompanied by ducks). The court itself is a Tudor, Grade I listed building with breath-taking views but the gardens are even better. It's located near Alcester and is easily accessible off a the A435.

It's also one week till my birthday!
